Fertility care · Paris area

Your care pathway, from assessment to next steps.

Understand the appointments, tests and people involved. OVA welcomes patients from Paris and the wider Île-de-France region at our clinic in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Book your first appointment

You do not need to complete every test before booking. Bring any results you already have. Your doctor will discuss which investigations are appropriate for your history and plans.

If you are pursuing a pregnancy as a couple, we encourage both partners to attend the first consultation. Video consultations may also be available, depending on the clinician and the reason for your appointment, whether you live in France or abroad.

Step 01

Start with a conversation

Your first consultation covers your plans, previous pregnancies, menstrual cycles, medical history, current medicines and any fertility treatment you have already had. When both partners contribute to a pregnancy, their assessments can proceed together.

What to bring

  • Previous blood tests, ultrasound reports and semen analysis results.
  • Reports from operations and previous fertility treatment, if applicable.
  • A list of medicines, a timeline of your attempts to conceive and your questions.
  • Your usual identification and healthcare documents.

If you need a consultation in English, confirm the language with the team before booking. Ask which records need translating if you are coming from abroad.

Practical information for your visit

Step 02

Understand the fertility assessment

Tests are chosen for your situation. This overview is not a checklist that everyone must complete.

Cycles and hormone tests

Your cycle history and selected blood tests help assess ovarian function. Your doctor explains which hormones to test and when: these may include FSH, LH and oestradiol, with TSH or prolactin when indicated.

Ultrasound and ovarian reserve

Ultrasound examines the uterus and ovaries, including antral follicles. AMH may help assess ovarian reserve, but does not predict your chances of pregnancy on its own.

Fallopian tubes

An X-ray or ultrasound examination using contrast may be recommended to check whether the tubes are open. The team explains the preparation and procedure.

Semen analysis

Semen analysis assesses sperm numbers, movement and shape. Follow the laboratory’s collection instructions. An abnormal result may require a repeat test or specialist advice. Additional sperm preparation tests or a semen culture may be requested depending on your care plan.

Further investigations

Additional imaging, examination of the uterine cavity, hormonal or genetic tests depend on the findings. Specialist investigations and surgery are not routine for everyone. The team also explains any infection screening needed before assisted reproduction.

Where do tests take place?

Depending on the test, you may attend the clinic, a laboratory, an imaging centre or a hospital. Blood sampling at OVA is reserved for patients already receiving care here, particularly alongside ovulation-monitoring scans. It takes place only on selected mornings, by prior arrangement with reception. OVA does not offer walk-in blood tests for external prescriptions.

Step 03

Review the results together

Your doctor considers the results alongside your history and plans. A single value does not determine treatment, and an assessment may not identify a clear cause for the difficulties.

The review appointment is an opportunity to ask what the results mean, whether further tests would help and what the next steps could be.

Step 04

Discuss the appropriate care

Options may include continued attempts to conceive with support, treatment of an identified cause, ovulation induction, insemination or IVF with or without ICSI. An assessment does not commit you to assisted reproduction.

If treatment is recommended, your doctor explains the prescription, monitoring and where procedures take place. Consultations and monitoring take place at OVA. IVF procedures, including egg retrieval, fertilisation in the laboratory and embryo transfer, take place at the American Hospital of Paris.

Step 05

Support throughout your care

Coordination and injection education

Marie-Camille Coste, OVA’s paediatric nurse and care coordinator, helps you understand the stages of care and the instructions for prescribed injections, in liaison with your doctor. Contact reception to discuss an appointment and confirm the language available.

Review each stage

Follow-up provides time to discuss the outcome and plan what comes next: pregnancy care, reassessment, further treatment or a pause. Our obstetricians provide antenatal care at OVA and delivery care at the American Hospital of Paris. Your experience and support needs are part of that conversation.

How long does an assessment take?

There is no fixed duration. Some tests depend on the menstrual cycle and appointment availability. Discuss the schedule before arranging travel; more than one visit may be needed.
